Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. I love the idea of being something else for just one day. My poor children start getting the “what do you want to be this year” in July most years because I just can’t wait to make their costumes.
This year, they kind of burst my bubble. The nine year old is getting a little old to be something make believe and the five year old had convinced himself that I could in no way make a Darth Vader costume as well as Target. Funnies part of that is he ended up as Wolverine.
The baby though? He was going to be Mickey Mouse. I searched high and low for a pattern, carefully picked out all the fabric and then changed my mind. His personality doesn’t scream Mickey Mouse quite like Max from Where The Wild Things are. This costume was perfect and I am so glad I change my mind.
Having children gives me such joy even when I can’t make their costumes. I really am so grateful for the days of watching them run from house to house, giant smiles, gleeming “TRICK OR TREAT”. These days will pass so fast and I am not going to let anything stop me from enjoying them!
Happy Halloween my friends!
