The beauty of imperfection

When I first started my photography journey I worried endlessly about composition and lighting and tack sharp focus. I disposed of endless beautiful pictures thinking they were somehow less important because they weren’t in “technical” focus. What a waste.
I don’t post enough personal photos I’ve decided. I think that should change. I want people to see that sometimes the most “imperfect” photo can turn out to be one of your favs. At a seminar I attended this last year, the speaker called it “emotional focus”. It was that moment I got it. I think I should spread those words too.
While I believe it is very import to have your family and life documented by a professional, I also believe it’s just as important to have your own memories. We’re not all so lucky to be able to have someone with us at all the important events so, I encourage you to learn your camera and what it does so that you too can learn emotional focus.. remembering to capture every little out of focus moment in your most precious people’s lives.

This? One of my favorite shots. Beat up lip and pink eye. A few years ago, I’d of never taken it.
Today? I just might have it framed.
